Dia 25

We did it! Bertie and I, we skipped, strolled, cycled and sometimes trudged 614 km, 380 km on foot and 234 km by bike.  We are pretty proud of ourselves.

We made an early 6 am start but the hordes were already swarming out of the next village so we resigned ourselves to a busy and noisy walk to Santiago.

We decided to stop for breakfast at the 5 km mark and thereby lost all of the gung-ho pilgrims determined to get to the Cathedral for the midday mass.  We were on our own again along with the other random stragglers. Bliss.

The first half of the walk was shady and pleasant but became more exposed as we approached Santiago.  A stiff breeze sprang up in the late morning which made life much easier.

Strange structure beside the airport.

The outskirts of Santiago were not particularly attractive but then we turned the corner into the old city and wove our way through pilgrims and tourists to the plaza in front of the Cathedral.

Our Camino is over.  We will be in Santiago for a week and will travel out to the Atlantic coast so I will still be posting updates until we fly back home.
