Dias 30 & 31

We took the 5:15 am train from Santiago to Madrid as all the later trains were fully booked.  It appears that a lot of pilgrims fly out of Madrid.  Our hotel is in a great spot, just across the road from the enormous Parque de el Retiro which is broken up into many different areas and contains a boating lake and a crystal palace amongst many other things.

There were also trees that looked like they were straight out of Dr Suess.

Madrid is a very impressive city with beautiful boulevards, fountains, monuments, museums and parks spread over a large area.  We only scratched the surface in our short time here.

The opera house and metro station

The Royal Palace

Churros and chocolate. So good!!!

Nibbling on tapas at the San Miguel market.

Buildings of the Gran Via.

The impossible dream – what the Camino appeared to be before we conquered it!

Adios muchachos.  Thanks for joining Bertie and I on our quest.  I hope you have enjoyed the experience as much as we have.
